Pennessi’s healthcare operations and sales experience includes local, regional and national C-Suite leadership positions with Foster Medical Corporation, Hoffman LaRoche, and NASDAQ-traded, Infu-Tech, Inc. He co- founded two successful healthcare service firms, IAN, Inc. and TherapyAmerica, LLC, and most recently served as a consultant for national sales and marketing, ScoreKeeper, LLC.  Michael is an advisory board member of the Ohio Department of Health, Primary Care Patient Centered Collaborative (OPCPCC) Patient Engagement and Communications & Education Learning Centers. 


David Trunnell

CFO/COO and Co-founder

David is a business executive bringing 30 years of excellence beginning with Arthur Andersen & Co. Fifteen of those years are in health care finance and senior leadership with hospitals, physician practices, behavioral health, community outreach, worksite wellness, long-term care, and PHO managed care.  He previously served as marketing and administrative leader for ScoreKeeper, LLC, and beginning in 1995 was a co-leader of the incubation of the ScoreKeeper, LLC personal and population health management software.  Based on established wellness principles, the EngageHealthIQ Solution Team now provides the most advanced technology, care delivery techniques, and workflow.

Karen Matthias, MBA, BSN

Senior Business Development Consultant

Karen is a seasoned executive with more than 15 years of leadership and management experience. Karen has led sales, marketing, and client services teams focused on client acquisition and retention through targeted sales and client loyalty strategies. Her passion is developing and executing strategic, integrated sales and marketing plans that deliver sustainable profitability to the bottom line. Her ability to bridge her clinical nursing experience with a keen understanding of the impact of the changing dynamics in the U.S. healthcare marketplace enhances her results-oriented approach to developing integrated marketing programs that address the needs of key stakeholders in the managed care, provider, and government markets. Karen's broad experience includes product development from concept to market launch, commercialization and lifecycle management, new market development, market research, and client-retention strategies that focus on communication, engagement, and education programs. Prior to EngageHealthIQ, Karen has held positions at Cardinal Health, Abbott Nutrition and Hayes, Inc.

Eileen Caffrey

Eileen brings 35 years of diverse registered nursing experience including staff and lead nurse positions in critical care, supervision, home health care and cardiac rehab. Eileen holds the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing Guided Care certificate and is a Certified Health Coach through the NSHC.

In 1999 Eileen developed the Heart Failure Education and Management program for a New England health system and participated in a CMS Medicare Demonstration project to evaluate the efficacy of telephonic patient education and follow up to improve outcomes and reduce hospital readmission.

Eileen has provided clinical guidance for patients in a Care Management Program since 1999 providing chronic disease  and self management education to patients with all chronic health issues using disease specific education based on evidence-based guidelines, motivational interviewing and goal setting for lifestyle and behavior change.  Eileen's areas of interest are the multi-comorbid patient, Heart Failure, Diabetes, Childhood and Adult Obesity, and the chronically ill that have multiple emotional/ social barriers to care.


Catherine Princell

RN, MS; Director, Training and Program Management

Catherine has been the Care Coordinator/Supervisor RN Care Managers for a hospital-owned physician practice with responsibility for RN-led patient self-management education, care coordination, risk stratification, clinical competency, and workflow. She has been a ScoreHealth user for 10 years and a ScoreHealth implementation project manager and trainer for 5 years. She is also a Patient-Centered Medical Home and Quality Initiative team coordinator/facilitator focusing on change projects and program development. She has experience in several areas of patient self-management education including worksite wellness, community health and wellness programs, and cardiac rehabilitation. Kim Sykes

As founder/Director of Maker Marketing, Kim Sykes has more than 8 years of experience in digital media. Kim obtained her MBA with a concentration in marketing from the University of Cincinnati (Magna Cum Laude). She also obtained a Masters of Science in Marketing from the University of Cincinnati, where her focus was in the medical device and innovation management industries. Kim specializes in marketing and sales for scalable health and technology companies. 


Jed Constantz

MHR, Healthcare

With a passion for improving the circumstance for physicians, Jed's work has enabled physicians to improve the circumstance of the patients they care for. Jed's efforts have eliminated inefficient and ineffective care and reduced the need for high tech/high cost care. Employers, both public and private, and publicly funded programs (Medicare/Medicaid) have seen the benefit through lowered costs for insuring people.

Jed serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Employer Advantage Health Care Solutions. EAHCS works directly with employers and connects them to Medical Model Primary Care practices for improved patient outcomes and lower aggregate spending. Jed has been involved in successful Medical Home Model Primary Care initiatives for employers and Medicaid that have measurably reduced year over year spending for more than 5 years.

Jenene R. Washington


Originally from Ohio, Jenene attended Spelman College in Atlanta, GA where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry (Magna Cum Laude). She obtained her M.D. degree from the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine.

Aspiring to make a difference in the lives of a population of patients and improve the quality of medicine for the underserved community, Dr. Washington obtained a Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in healthcare from the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School in 2008.

With an interest in community health and pediatrics, she completed her pediatric residency training at the Children’s Hospital of Sinai in Baltimore, Maryland. She began practicing pediatrics at Park West Health System in Baltimore, advancing rapidly to lead the Department of Pediatrics. Working in community health with disadvantaged populations, she developed a strong commitment to community health and performance improvement in medicine.  
In 2009 Jenene became the Center Medical Director for two centers of the Baltimore Medical System, the largest Federally Qualified Healthcare Center in Maryland. She currently leads a large, multi-specialty health center within the System. Dr. Washington has led the center and the organization in improving the lives of patients through programs and initiatives in adult and childhood obesity, childhood immunization improvement, primary care access, and diabetes care management.

Dr. Washington successfully led the organization to national recognition of PCMH through the National Committee of Quality Assurance (NCQA). In 2013, Dr. Washington was appointed Associate Chief Medical Officer and Director of Patient Centered Services at Baltimore Medical System. In this role, she champions the on-going transformation of the PCMH to a highly functioning team, with continuous education of medical staff and patients. 







Kriss T. Haren


Kriss Haren is a principle of the clinical consulting and motivational training firm, Collaborative Communication Consulting LLC and a licensed professional clinical counselor.  Since 2004, Kriss has specifically focused on developing and implementing best-practice communication skills training for physicians, nurses and numerous allied health professionals.  

She has over 25 years of experience in outpatient and inpatient behavioral health settings, and has graduate degrees in public administration and counseling. She is a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT), and has achieved certification as a Registered Health Coach III (expert) through HealthSciences Institute, where Kriss now lectures.  She serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Dayton.  

Since 2009, Kriss has trained more than 3,400 individuals in the use of Motivational Interviewing in healthcare settings. She serves as the behavioral health specialist for the Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT OH-5), which deploys rapid response medical teams to disaster settings as part of the National Disaster Medical System.

Melinda Huffman

She's a best-selling author, writer, educator, and nationally known speaker.

Previous Positions include:  Director of Disease Management for Amedisys, Inc., Asst. Patient Care Administrator for Southern TN Medical Center; Director of Nursing Education, Motlow College in Lynchburg, TN.

Robert J. Collins

DMD, MPH; Clinical Professor, School of Dental Medicine of University of Pennsylvania

Dr. Robert J. Collins is Director, Office of International Relations at the University Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. From 1995-2006, he served as Deputy Executive Director of the International and American Associations for Dental Research, nonprofit organizations dedicated to promoting oral health of the public through oral health research, and as Interim Executive Director for the Associations from June 2002 to April 2003.

From 1991-95, he served as Chief Dental Officer for the U.S. Public Health Service, appointed by former Surgeon General Antonia C. Novello to the PHS rank of Assistant Surgeon General. He retired from the PHS Commissioned Corps in July 1995.

Dr. Collins served in a variety of clinical and administrative assignments in New Mexico, North Dakota, Montana, Arizona, California, and Maryland with the Indian Health Service over his twenty-four year career with the Commissioned Corps and received numerous awards. He received an AB in biology from St. Anselm College in 1967; DMD in 1971 from the University of Pennsylvania; and a Master of Public Health from the Johns Hopkins University in 1980.

Dr. Collins is a member of many professional organizations and a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Public Health. His professional interests are in health services research and prevention; he recently (June 2012) served as guest editor for a Special Issue on Prevention of the Journal of Evidence-Based Dental Practice.
